YK Hong is an organizer in every sense. In all aspects of her work, she bases her foundational philosophy in grassroots organizing.

YK organizes events and spaces for folks of color to come together and share rare spaces of intention and consciousness-raising together.

A major project YK has been working on for the past 6 years is her documentation of "Envisioning a Revolutionary Vision". She wants to gather voices and thoughts on where the struggle is at now, how we're going to reach further revolution, and what it might look like.

She also organizes around gentrification, particularly in the Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, where she currently resides.

Another major effort YK has been working on has been through working with different groups and folks to understand how oppressed people (people of color, poor people, queer, genderqueer and trans folx) struggle within our own communities and neighborhoods. This project aims to talk about the confusion and anger that often manifests in violence against each other.

Read her article Chinaman in Brooklyn, which addresses her daily experiences with violence in her neighborhoods.
